چکیده

Apart from u s i n g 0.005% concentration, the recommended f i e l d dose of 0.025% of the anticoagulant is used along w i t h an alternate food for i n d i v i d u a l rats for a varying number of days. Those that had survived were taken as tolerant, provided they showed an mg/kg intake beyond the tolerance l i m i t , survived a s i x days of feeding, e x h i b i t e d b a i t shyness and d i d not e x h i b i t hemorrhage after death. In determining the c r i t e r i a for tolerance to an anticoagulant by a rat, one s h o u l d take into account four composite factors. These are, s i x days of even 0.025% feeding, b a i t shyness when alternate food is g i v e n , h i g h e r mg/kg intake than the tolerance level and a l o s s of i n t e n s i v e hemorrhage after death.

Distribution of anticoagulant rodenticide resistance in Rattus norvegicus in the Netherlands according to Vkorc1 mutations

BACKGROUND Rodenticide resistance to anticoagulants in Rattus norvegicus will lead to increased difficulties in combating these pest animals. Here, the authors present the results of a survey in the Netherlands where tissue samples and droppings were tested using a newly developed TaqMan PCR test for genotypic variation at codon 139 in the Vkorc1 gene associated with anticoagulant rodenticide r...

An Alternative and Efficient Route to Chlorophacinone

A rodenticide is any product able to kill rodents, mice, gophers, squirrels and other small animals. They represent a diverse group of chemicals bearing little or no relationship to one another – apart from their current or historic use as rodenticides. Anticoagulant rodenticides [1] of the indanedione type (Fig. 1) are commonly used for the control of mice, rats and other rodents. The most imp...

Field trials of a new sub-acute rodenticide flupropadine, against wild Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus).

Fifteen experimental treatments with rodenticidal baits containing 0.1, 0.15 or 0.2% flupropadine were conducted on farmsteads against Rattus norvegicus infestations. Eight treatments were completely successful and the others gave kills ranging from 36 to 72% in 28 days. Treatments with 0.1 and 0.15% flupropadine were less successful against large infestations than against small ones. Flupropad...

Laboratory and Field Evaluation of Difethialone, a New Anticoagulant Rodenticide

The efficacy of the newly developed anticoagulant rodenticide, difethialone was evaluated against various rodent species in laboratory and fields. Difethialone at 0.025% concentration in the form of loose bait (broken wheat and rice + veg. oil + garlic powder) gave absolute mortality in Rattus rattus, Mus musculus, Funambulus pennanti, and Meriones hurrianae during ‘no-choice’ tests in one day ...
